George W. Bush And The 2007-08 Financial Crisis And A Brief History of America’s Economic Development
This book is a recollection of events that asks the question: Did Presidents Bush and Obama make the right decisions and demonstrate great leadership during the Financial Crisis? Using historical parallels going back to Alexander Hamilton, Ostrander gives the reader an understanding of America’s economic development and how the “gang of three” created by Bush and continued by Obama used past historical and financial experiences to solve the problems created by the 2007-2008 Financial Crisis.
The book seeks to educate readers on how the actions of these two Presidents broke with party lines and prevented a 1929-style depression. Hopefully, the book will inspire you to develop a more critical thinking approach to the economic cycle of euphoria and panic in society and learn how to avoid getting caught in this cycle. Dan Ostrander has a long history of political involvement.
He taught U.S. history for 38 years at Butte Community College. He met nine presidents and wrote books with two (George H. W. Bush and Gerald Ford). This is Ostrander’s third book on the American presidency.
President George H.W. Bush asked him to participate in a conference on his presidency at Hofstra University and in a conference held in China on U.S. China. While in China he was a guest lecturer at Beijing and Renmin Universities. President Carter asked Ostrander to participate in monitoring two international elections, one the presidential election in Indonesia in 2004 and the other with his wife Dawn in Myanmar in 2015. Dan and Dawn have known the Carters for over 30 years and they have been very proud to call the President and Rosalynn as close friends. During that 30 plus period the Ostranders spent about a week a year with the Carters.
Ostrander has built good relationships with both Republican and Democratic Presidents which included Presidents Nixon, Ford, Carter, Bush 41 and 43,Reagan and Clinton. Ostrander was on Nixon’s Presidential Council and Dawn and he were on Bush 43’s Foundation Board for five years.
